Who is Running America?

Somewhere Over The Rainbow Things Will Change

We elect our Congressmen, Senators and President to make decisions for us in Washington, D.C. and hope they do what is best for the country but it seems that has become a false hope.
We have but to examine the laws passed during the Bush administration to see that all of them are designed to favor the very rich and the companies they control.
The lobbyist who represent big money and big business are now in control of our government in Washington and it will not change as long as the public continues to believe the half truths being presented by our politicians.
Those who believe that privatizing Medicare will benefit senior citizens have a rude awakening coming soon! Private companies are in business to Make Money! They do not exist to help any Americans, except those who have large holdings in them and this is especially true of drug makers, insurance companies and health maintenance organizations.
The AARP has become a large insurance company, apparently with profit motives, rather than looking for ways to help our older citizens. This organization got on the Bush bandwagon and even spent money to promote the Medicare Law which was recently passed. They stated in their ads that it "wasn't perfect" but was better than nothing. The Voice From The Mountain tells me  this law will prove to be "worse than nothing" as it's features are gradually unveiled. We will see that large insurance, drug companies and HMOs will be the big winners in this law. This law was passed in it's present form because that's what their lobbyists asked the president and congress for in exchange for millions in campaign money.
Americans are no longer in charge of their destiny, the big money interests are, and it will remain that way until Americans Wake Up and take charge in the voting booth! G. L.H.
