Recently I reviewed a tape of one of the debates between then, Governor George Bush, and
Vice President Al Gore. During that debate Gov. Bush stated emphatically that, if he were elected President, the military would not be
used for nation building and would not be spread all over the world keeping the peace. He further stated that troops would be sent to
other countries only when it was in our national interest to do so.
In one of his "state of the union" addresses, President Bush stated that he would not dispatch our troops into
any situation without a definitive exit strategy.
Now our troops are in Iraq and no one in the administration seems to be willing or able to predict when they will
be leaving that country. A much different situation exists than was given before the Iraq "war" was begun. We were led to believe that
it would only last a few weeks and the Iraq people would be dancing in the streets when our troops arrived. Nothing like this has
happened, in fact, more of our soldiers are being killed daily and the unrest continues to grow.
What happened to Mr. Bush's pledge that our troops would not be used for "nation building"?

We heard President Bush and his men detail how Saddam Hussein was a threat to our security with his "weapons of
mass destruction" and how he was trying to build nuclear weapons to use against us and the rest of the world, that was the Presidents
basis for invading Iraq, but to this day, we have not seen any of these weapons discovered. Where are they Mr. President?
Again, the "Voice From The Mountain" tells me that this so called "war" was fought for one reason only, OIL! OIL!
I predict that most, if not all, oil from Iraq will be handled by US and British oil companies at a great
profit. If this happens it will lead to grater divisions between the US and our European Allies.
If President Bush and his fathers old cronies are allowed to control our government another four years, we will be
isolated and despised by most countries of the world. The only thing which makes most countries remain friendly with us is the size of
our economy, as it diminishes, so will our prestige around the world. Since we invaded Iraq on flimsy claims of weapons of mass
destruction, it is only natural that many countries will feel threatened by our superior force and wonder where it will all end.
