The Reverend Charles Cummings Cabin, Abingdon, Va.

Reverend Charles Cummings answered a call by early settlers in Fincastle co. (Washington) Co.) Va. and established The Sinking Springs Church at Wolf Hills (later named Abingdon) about 1773 and fought alongside the pioneers when the Indians raided the forts and farms in the area.. He reportedly took his rifle to the Sunday service at the log meeting house. This cabin was moved from the Cummings farm about two miles north of Abingdon and placed in the Sinking Springs Cemetery..
Whites Mill, located at the corner of Whites Mill Road and Rich Valley Rd. was first established in the the late 1700s and is a well known land mark in Washington co., Va. It has recently been purchased by a non-profit group and work is under way to restore it. It is located about five miles north of Abingdon, Va.
