Barn on Black Hollow Road in Washington co., Va.
The story is told of John Breckenridge, when he was a young man,
told people he believed he could fly. He gathered all the turkey feathers
he could get and made him a pair of wings, strapped them on and climbed to
the top of this barn. He ran down the roof of the barn and jumped off! To
his amazement, he couldn't fly and fell to the ground! The people who had
gathered to watch his feat picked up his broken body and got a doctor to
patch him up. Several years ago John died after a long life. Perhaps he is
flying around Heaven now! GLH |
